• So I had been working on this project for a guy who contacted me through the Warrior Forum. He had seen the work I was doing for PIP Site Owners and needed a quick and dirty little sales page mocked up with a PayPal button. That was it.
  
  Well he sent me the copy and I quickly threw together this sales page. I had thrown my own PayPal button on it, since it was at this point just a mock up and I hadn't been paid for it yet. So I uploaded it to some random directory on my web host and sent him a link. He looked at it and loved it. I sent all the code to him and he paid me for the work.
  
  I thought the story would end there. But it didn't...
  
  A few days later I got an e-mail from PayPal alerting me to a recent payment. I don't do a lot of payment processing through PayPal so I thought it was a bit strange. I went to Paypal and looked at my account. There was $49.95 sitting in my account for a product that I don't sell.
  
  Strange to say the least. I thought maybe someone had gotten an e-mail address wrong or something, but it had a product name and all the fixins so I had to look deeper.
  
  I went to my Web Host Stats page and looked around for an answer. Maybe there was some old site of mine still lingering out there that I had forgotten about. Well what do you know.
  
  That sales page I had stuck in some completely random directory had 2 hits on it. Someone had somehow found that page and actually bought the product. Since it had my Paypal Button, the money went into my account. Mystery solved.
  
  I had to call the guy I had done the work for and let him know because legally I didn't have any rights to even sell the product. Thankfully the guy I had done the work for had a good sense of irony and was really excited to hear about this little experience, because he said... "Man if the sales page works on some random person finding it by mistake, imagine how well it will sell when I start sending real traffic to it." Talk about seeing the bright side. He let me keep all the money and sent out the product to the person who bought it.
  
  So not only does IM work when you are sleeping. Sometimes it even works when you are not even trying.

• I realize this is a pretty blah blah post, but I have been meaning to write about it for some time now and I just haven't. So here goes...
  I have been around the Internet for the past 20 years. That's all the way back to my 300 baud modem and BBS days. Yes I am that old.
  Well I have used just about every Browser that has ever come along from IE and Netscape to Opera and Gorilla and probably a few that no one outside of MIT has ever heard of. They all use to do just about the same thing and there were always reasons why I would use one for one thing and another for another thing. Until NOW.
  I am one of the converted. Firefox rules the planet!
  Now I know that saying that is like saying my PC kicks your MAC butt and there are arguments a plenty on both sides. But I have to say that I pretty much ONLY use FireFox these days. You just can't beat the Tabbed Browsing and the ability to open a folder full of Bookmarks in one click. (I use that to check all of my online accounts at once. What a time saver.) The list of great things goes on and on.
  Now it even ships with the world's number one search engine Google built right in. I am not even going to go into all of the benefits of having a built in Google Search Bar right there when I need it. But suffice it to say... It ROCKS!
  FireFox is a free download and will never cost you a dime to use. You can download it and try it right now if you want to. There is a link on my homepage. It's an easy install and you will be glad you did. I know I am.

• Many times people are unable to see the changes that have been made to their site right off the bat. This is usually because their browser (Internet Explorer or FireFox) has "Cached" the pages of their site.
  
  What does "Cache" mean?
  
  Caching is what your Browser does in order to speed up web browsing. The images and other files are downloaded to your computer's hard drive for use on subsequent visits to a page. Instead of having to download all the images again, your browser simply uses the images already stored in your Cache.
  
  Why is this a problem?
  
  Well when you have a change to your website, your browser is still loading the Cached images and files. So you won't see any difference in the new page. You need to click on the "Refresh" button in order to get all the new images to load. But sometimes even that is not enough.
  
  How do you Clear your Cache?
  
  Internet Explorer:
  Open a Browser Window and select from the Menu Bar "Tools" and then "Internet Options". The Internet Options Window will appear. In the center of the window you will see a button marked "Delete Files". Click that button and your Cache will be cleared. Click the OK button and return to your web site. A new version of the site will be loaded for you.
  
  FireFox:
  Open a Browser Window and select from the Menu Bar "Tools" and then "Options".
  Click on the "Privacy Icon" and then on the "Cache" Tab. You will see a button marked "Clear Cache Now". Click that and your Cache will be cleared. Click the OK Button and return to your web site. A new version of the site will be loaded for you.
  
  Try this the next time you have made a change but it does not show up for you.

• Do you use Yahoo - AOL - Hotmail - MSN or GMail as your e-mail provider when corresponding to vendors and suppliers? You could be missing out on important e-mails if you do.
  
  On a rather unfortunate but frequent basis I get e-mails from people who are asking me why they have not heard form me after 24 hours. In 99% of the cases it is because they are using one of these types of accounts in our correspondence.
  
  The reason this happens is bacause ALL of these types of e-mail services have strong SPAM and BULK mail filters in place. These important e-mails end up in there with all of the Viagra and Mortgage related SPAM we all get everyday.
  
  The best way to avoid this is to simply NOT use one of these types of accounts when buying products and services. You should always use a good and trustworthy e-mail account provider. Your own support@yourdomain.com is a good one or create a new one called vendors@yourdomain.com like I do. Then use Outlook Express or Thunderbird (both free) to check it everyday. This way you know that any e-mail you get in that account will be important and should be looked at.
  
  It can be VERY frustrating for both you and your vendor when communications break down because a very important e-mail has been dumped into the SPAM and BULK mail folder.
  
  If you don't want to be on their mailing list after the purchase, simply Opt-Out after the sale.
